The Easiest way I know of to describe Microphone Compression without getting Technical is a Non Compressed Audio Signal looks like -_-_-_-_

when Compressed it looks like --------

Hope this helps,

the reason i asked is that the turner plus three is a compressed mike while the d104 is an amplified mic

THEORETICALLY, at least, the +3 (compression) mic gives a TRUE increase in talk-POWER(true added SWING to your audio) whereas the d104(amplified mic) ONLY makes your audio SOUND louder.

i find a SIGNAL REPORT from the receiving station to be a better judge of 'what gets out better'

every time i switch between my turner +3B and my silver eagle D104, i get the same reports. "they both sound great!"
cant seem to get a difinitive answer as to which one is more pleasing to the ear.

mod1516, ever turn your TV down when the car commercials come on? they use LOTS OF COMPRESSION, along with other audio processing.

Can only say I love the smart sound on our new big screen TV ...
no matter what is showing the sound stays the same.
Maybe I'll patend smart sound for the CB/Ham Radio... that way weak signal sound just as good as the loud ones do and no more over power loud ones!? can you hear me how ?)))))

Till next time
