just got a galaxy 44 today and everything worked on it but turned it on today and the channel display and tx/rx light doesn't work can any one help?

(it also has had a blue channel display in it also)

Does the 44 have a dimmer control? I know on my 959 you can turn off the lights by pushing in the knob.

yea its got a dimmer (just got bright and dim no off feature)but i can take the channel display out and put in another radio and it works fine just not in the 44. won't key or recive either.
i think i have lost voltage somewhere on the board just dont know where to start.

First thing I would check would be the 2SB754 regulator near the power input. It's mounted to the chassis. Then if that is ok, move to the smaller regulator mounted near the audio chip. Check to make sure that the solder isn't broken from the board. If you have mounted it in the bracket and turned the knobs too tight, sometimes the solder breaks and the radio won't work correctly.

Do you get any power to the radio? If not, did you or someone else accidently plug the radio in in reverse? Check the diode directly in front of the power connector.

If all this is ok, then I would think that it is possible that whoever put the channel display in has a faulty solder joint and I would start there next.

i got it working. it was a bad solder joint on the board back at the rear of the radio. desoldered and resoldered and wa la it come on.
