I was wondering how much force is put on the mount in windy conditions, I want to mount the ANT. to a 12 foot alumimium pole that is attached to angle iron and bolted around the chimmney of my house . I just want to make sure before I put it up there that it will not tear down the smoke stack,lol..,I have had other mobile ants... mounted there but they were not very heavy . thanks for the help |

MAKE SURE THE CHIMMNEY IS IN GOOD SHAPE . IT GETS REAL WINDY HERE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND I HAVE SEEN MY 1MAX DO SOME STRANGE DANCES . BEEN UP A YEAR AND NO PROBLEMS THOUGH . I HAVE IT ON TRIPOD AND GUY WIRED |

Yes, make sure that Chimney of yours
is solid./ The Imax 2000 is 24 ft &
like 1861 says, it likes to boogie

have my Imax on a 1 inch by 15 ft. water pipe straped to my waste pipe (cast iron) on my roof The wind plays games with it But it is still standing The ant . is very light!!The winds on LI. are bad some times! |

I believe the Imax absorbs the wind load when it bends over. It will only bend over so far; therefore, if the antenna will stand the pressure of the Imax bend all the way over (which it will) your pipe should be safe and your chimney. I have a top section out of a Rad Shack pushup pole supporting mine in the top of a pine tree where the tip of the Imax is 90 ft! No problems thus far. If the chimney is in any suitable shape at all it should hold up.

Ok you said: (chimney) is it brick or galvanized pipe coming out from roof? If you have a cement chimney or brick you should be ok. Just asking! Don’t hook up on a galvanized pipe, it won’t handle win load. (Seen it happen). As far as aluminum pipe????.
Aluminum pipe sqd 40 will work, with high windloads. But if its thin wall aluminum tube , around .032 wall> first wind of 35 mph will bend it. Its going to come down.
I wish I could tell you more, but need more information. Hope i helped in some way.

this is the mount on my chimmeny ,it is bolted around using threaded rod and angle Iron |

this is the aluminium pole where I want to mount the Imax2000 , It is pretty strong and light. I had an old mobile ant. mounted there before but it did not work well. |

The chimney is in good shape and the mount is thick angle Iron, I am going to try the pole first and if it bends the pole then I will just bolt it to the wood where the sat T.V.dish is . Will the Sat dish effect the performance of the Ant.? if it does I can allways move the dish to the side of the house. thanks again

Ok after i seen the pictures ,The Aluminum Pole is smaller than the diameter than the chair thats on the deck, and its most likley aluminum also.
The Imax at the base of where the coax is connected is 4 times as big as whats laying on deck.Forget the ideal of the alumimum tube. Ok buy 5 foot of steel 1.1/4 tube at lease 14 gage thickness.
Chimney looks good as what you posted ( i think your safe there) also Hotwire notice that looks like a wood 2x8 or 2x10 is mounted for your dish antenna. There is a lot of wind load on the Imax 2000. Doint bolt it to wood.It won't work trust me.
Looks like they have redirod tying the angles together. Make a standoff braket that you can drill to fit the redi rod and and use angle iron as which is used. and buy U-clamps to bolt though the angle iron to fit the pipe, such as muffler clamps.

We had some nasty weather last night here in Indiana. Some pretty big wind gusts. I liked to freak when I was looking out the window at my Imax! That antenna is so flexible it was horzontal at the top element. Without a doubt guy wires are a must during winds like that. Its amazing, I checked my SWR during all this and it didnt go up at all!!!! Didnt even move the needle around!!!! I have 2 Imaxs now. I have 1 backup and soon to buy a third. Been debating for a while about running daul Imax's. This antenna is 4 life brothas. |

That Imax will take the wind, but don't miss a trick when installing your mast. Do everything you can to be as safe as possible or you will be up there in the rain. Do it now and the antenna will take it.
