Quickie question. My neighbor has acquired a palomar 250 amp(2x1446 pills), and he's also bought a Wilson antenna. I plan to "hook him up" so to speak and do the installation for him. The problem is that, he has a Lexus small SUV called an RX 300, or something like that. On the roof of his vehicle, he has a moon roof, and either a plastic or metal luggage rack (I've yet to check). Will these 2 features interfere with getting a good swr and grounding with the mag mount Wilson 1000 I plan to install for him? If so, what are my options? My reputation is on the line. Wolverine. |

You might want to go with a front fender mount. It'd be a lot easier. You could make a clamp/bracket of sorts and mount it on the back cross bar of the luggage rack. You can run the ground to the rear hatch hinge bolts. The coax can go through the same place. Where the hinge is, the body should be recessed and there should also be a valve like vent that the coax can go through to get inside. It would be tricky, but you'd get the antenna up in the air and also further from the motor/electronics and his noggin. __________________________________ ...ok, now that I've re-read your post, put the mag mount in the top middle of the rig. It'll be on metal and have metal around it for the g-plane. The rack shouldn't cause any problems. |
