A friend of mine has a NorthStar 9500 base. He says there is another AC plug in on the back of the radio that says 100 watts max switchable. What is this used for?

Thanks,

Mikefromms

Souds to me like it's a power plug for 110 V accessories, like maybe a lighted meter or something like that, that way when you turn off the CB the accessory (whatever it may be) turns off too! Pretty nice idea but I can't think of a whole lot I would do with it.

Mikefromms,

Have him use a Volt/Ohm Meter and see if it has power all the time.

If it does it is probably like Bc mentions a 110 Volt accessory pulg which would be handy to plug an amp, meters, ext frequency counters into.

If he has the Owners manual it should tell him what it is for.

Yes it's for your Accessory's as long as it's
not to big if you have a power meter that has a light IE 12 volt you can get a small wall power
supply you know the little black ones for that
meter. I moded a jack with 12vdc on the back
of my base just for that kind of thing. You'll
see this on some hifi also.
