I'm looking for a new radio for the 18 wheeler. It's between the S3 and the 77DX.
Which one would be a better performer? I like the features on both radios. I'm looking for a radio that is reliable and loud. |

Nothing to think about here,
MAGNUM S-3
BUT! The  MINI MAGNUM I am doing a Review on, WE LOVE so far with the 30+ Watts PEP it puts out and it's small size and we never use FM anyway.

S3 is not a bad radio but with the 77 you will have SSB also. Just something to think about. The 77 is LOUD and reliable. They have been around for a long time. |

I like the fact that the 77DX has side band, but because of the side mounted microphone jack It probably will not fit in the overhead cubby hole that is meant for the radio. I would have to somehow mount it on the dash. |

What do you drive blackbeard? Mine dosnt fit in the cubby either. I have it mounted right below the cubby. If the 77 wont fit the S-3 wont either. They are the same size with the exception of the mic plug. Both are bigger than the Cobra 29s which most of the cubbies were designed for. You will also have a 2 year warranty with the Galaxy versus only 1 year with the Magnum. Both radios will serve you well in a truck |
