Does anyone use Motorola equipment for amateur radio use? Are Motorola radios really worth the higher pricetag?

I used a Maxtrac on ham bands once.

Motorola has an awesome receiver and you can sit on the mic and not worry about the transmitter burning up. As for performance, what you are paying for in commercial gear is the stability to meet the FCC specs. for commercial bands. A little drift in freq., deviation, etc is no big deal on the ham bands.

Now, if you live near an active repeater site and your ham quality radios get slammed with intermod, the Motorola radio is just what you need.
