i was out in my mobile today, and it was working fine until i turned the radio too 13 for the net, the freq counter was on 76.554 and no matter what i did it won't change, anybody have any ideas on what it could be.

this is a cobra 148 gtl that's doing this?what model is it and how old is it?The olny cobra 148 i know of with a feq conuter is the old cobra 148 gtl F.

yes it's a cobra 148 gtl,taiwan model, i put the counter on it, and the radio is about 20 years old

You didn't say if the radio still works or not. Did you try flipping around the band to see if you could find someone to chat with or try listening on another radio while transmitting on various channels on your 148?

It sounds like a counter problem. If it's not a counter problem there's a problem with the oscillator circuit which could have been caused by either the counter installation or a clarifier modification.

the only thing the radio does is light up, it's not the counter i removed it and it does the same thing!
i also checked it with another radio, no tx/or rx,and the needle doesn't move, i've checked mb 3756 (control voltage generator) i don't have 8 volts on pin 1. which is part of the clarifier mod
