Does RS make them anymore? I would like to get up at least 30 feet but do see that RS does not carry them. Any suggestions? |

Lowes and home depot has them up to 50'. |

From what I've seen the ones at Radio Shack don't look all that good, not heavy duty. Do a search for South River, they make about the best, even at 30 feet it has to be guyed. |

Saddletramp025: I searched Lowes website and did not see them. I am sure they do not have everything online but will have to go down and check. That would be wonderful if they do have them! 
Yankee: RS discontinued selling those from what I heard. Never did see the quality of them. Yes I intend to guy the mast because we get a lot of wind out here and want to protect my investment. I have to round up all my components before this project and have to do it before the snow flies! Right now I have a 15 foot mast clamped to side of house with A-99 on it. Does a good job but want to get it up there!

Try a search on the Lowe's site for CHANNEL MASTER and also then on google. |

I bought a telescopic mast last year at one of our local harware stores. The only ones I found at radio shack were 10 ft. sections that could be put together, not telescopic.

how much does lowes get for a fifty footer, the local electronics store gets eighty five bucks for one.

You really need a 40' one. That gives you 4' to put in the ground and 36' to your feedpoint.
Just my 2 cents worth. Mind you, 30 foot would at least get the antenna up.

my zip is 33756. My 30 foot pole is going on the roof peak with a tripod. My roof peak is 13 feet, and I have a five foot extension. So i will be some where between 47-48 foot at the base of the I-Max 2K when it goes up,not unless I decide to use a 10 foot ext., but I will probably stick with the five I already have. If you get solid groundwire. Lowes has it on their wire loom thing, but you will pay more for it if they cut it. Lowes sells pre-cut 25 foot boxes of 4 ga. solid copper for around 9 bucks. Lowes also has ground rods, copper ground straps and other knick knacks. You just need to look and think about what you want your station to look like.I have a vision in my head of mine so all I need to do now, is do it!

P.S. I got the tripod,and a brackett to hold the base of the pole from Radio Shack. I am using Kevlar rope for my guy ropes. If you don't live in a salt water atmosphere you could use guy wire.I like the rope though and probably use it anyway. |

My neighbor just recently bought a 40ft TM from one of the local Rat Shack's, I was quite surprised at how it was Heavy Duty, I have 3 TM's up right now at this place, 2 have TV antennas on them and the other has my CB Ant. None of them are anywhere near as Sturdy or Heavy Duty as my neighbors he got. I think it was 49.99. I have to wonder if each individual store buys from thier own particular dealer, maybe some store managers go with the cheapest bidder and some go for quality masts...JMO

Well WildRat, sounds like you'll have a great set up with a 30' mast on top of the house. I had thought about that here, but my roof really needs to be replaced which we cannot afford right now so that option is out for me. , I don't want to impact the roof any more than it has to be. But you'll be kick'n booty once you get yours up if you do it like you explained. Hope to hear from you one day.
