When I key the microphone on this radio with the variable turned down to 2 watts, it begins swing all over. It may swing from 2 to 10, back and forth. Audio is distorted when it does this. Have used several mic's, and have varied the variable power with no change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Had the exact same prob. with my dx2517,but it can happen to any radio,a cold solder joint on pl-259 either center or shield or both, then it could be a dirty pot,you turn the control down to low and if the wiper makes intermittant contact you get just what you described.Bigbob

I also have a question about the Galaxy DX/2517. I've been running this rig for some time now and what I would like to know is about the two RCA jacks on the rear of the rig, one is for a recorder and the other is for an external frequency counter. I'm interested in the freq. counter jack. Since I've owned this rig I can't seem to find a freq. counter from anyone, not even Galaxy, I've already wrote them and there answer is that as far as they know no one makes one. Why did they put the jack there to begin with if you can't use it! I would like just a five digit counter if I can find one that can be used without it being hardwired. Anyone have any ideas? I would even settle for the FC-347 if it could be changed around to accept the RCA plug! So I can just plug it in. Can you guys kick that around? If it makes any sense to you?
My ears are open.

I kinda think that I should have posted this question someplace else, but that's what happens when Mom is in a hurry and she is standing by the door. Now you know who the boss is around here!
Have a good one.

Yeah, sometimes it's better to create your
own personal post, so, everybody can see it.
In the radio sections.
