I get pretty good SWR at amp output going to antenna and is not to bad. 1:3 is the highest it goes.
Now, when I check it between radio going to input of amp,I get reading of 1:5. Does not really go any higher than that.
Can you put an 100 watt antenna tuner between radio and amp input or is this SWR reading not much to worry about? |

radio-amp-meter-antenna gets you 1.3:1, and radio-meter-amp-antenna gets you 1.5:1, is that what you're saying? i wouldn't worry about that enough to bother with a tuner. usually, HIGHER swr's are the OPPOSITE of how you stated it, & even that is OK.
if you're using the radios' built in meter for reading between radio & amp, that COULD account for the discrepancy. if it bothers you, try different lengths of coax jumpers, 3', 6', 9' & see if you get any changes. otherwise, leave it. |

I put a TVI filter between radio and amp this weekend. It actually brought SWR DOWN! 
Now I have a 1.3:1 on channel one and on channel 40 it is 1.1:1.
Amp turned on, good SWR.
Now my question is, Should SWR be checked with the switch in "operate" instead of "standby"? |
