What mobile antenna do you think is the best for receiving and transmitting?some have told me the Predator 10 K antenna others have said a 102" steel whip and others have said a wilson.what do you think is the best and why? |

The best antenna is the one you like, the one that can be tuned to your vehicle, the one that can work with your setup i.e. radio,amp,etc. Personally I usually look for what I statedd above. Myself I tend to go with Wilson or Firestik antennas. I have had Wilson 1000, 5000, and the one I have on my Jeep now a 5 foot Wilson silver load. I have had the 102" whips both fiberglas and stainless, and also my first antenaa was a Francis which was a good antenna. But now I guess I am a Wilson man. The Best antenna is the one that works for YOU!

From my experiance the 102" SS is by far the best mobile whip you can get, I have used that particular antenna for a long time sure it has drawbacks like length and the pain in the but to tune. The predator 10K if by far my favorite loaded type antenna, followed by the Wilson 5000 and Wilson 1000. But alot has to do with personal prefrance and where it is going to be mounted.
But by far the 102" is the best for the money, and has the best recieve from a whip. I dont care for the enclosed oil cooled coils of the Wilsons quite as much as the open air cooled coil of the 10K but none of these are really concerns unless you are running big big power.

I gotta agree with Outkast, If you don't mind the pain of hitting every low tree limb or overpass, drive-thrus and what have you, ya can't beat a SS 102". I'll never go back to anything else. Of course I have to frequently put up with the truckers making jokes about the huge antenna on my S-10. Like, "Ain't ya 'fraid that thing will tip over on a turn?" or "what ya try'n to reach with that, Pluto?" etc etc.....

The best performer is the 102" whip.
But, not the most practical mobile antenna.
Most people have to mount them on a bumper
because of there long length. Poor choice
for location of an antenna.
Get an antenna you can put lots of metal
around it. |

Speaking of Antenna's here,
Wildrat When are we getting together and putting that Imax up?
Also I'll be in Clearwater one day here soon with in the week or next,Going to go out on one of those boats there and do some deep sea fishing.

Starface sent you the email, Maybe I can get my son around here at the same time because I'm pretty useless. If I can't get Michael(Eldest Son) around here you can stop anyway and say hello if you want. Usually after a day on the water you usually don't feel like working, I know I don't after I've been out there all day. Of course when I say all day that is what it is. I would usually have the boat in the water around 5 and not get back till close to dark, then I get my one big grunt I caught and bring it home, wife filets it and I amleft with an ounce of fish flesh.
