I have a very small vehicle with limited options for rsdio mounting locations, and the PC122 seems to be the smallest 40 channel SSB radio out there. The only bad thing is the un-jumpable chip, but I know that can be swapped out (I just need to find someone who has them!). Anyway, I already have one of these radios, but it has a couple of minor problems. It transmits and receives just fine, but the RF gain does nothing (like its wide open all the time). Fine, I can live with that. The LED S/RF meter doesn't work either (again, I can live with that), but the real problem is the lack of a working squelch. Pretty much got to have that! It acts the same as the RF gain, like it's wide open all the time. I've tried adjusting the VR on the board for squelch with no affect. I've also searched all over the front and main boards for bad solder joints, damaged components, etc with no luck (it did have a couple of cold solder joints on the main board keeping it from working when I first started on it). I've carefully examined the ribbon cable between the front board and the main board, and checked the solder connections on them as well. Is there anything that these three things have in common (components/connections)that might cause these problems? Can anybody point me to a schematic or any technical info like a block diagram? If I can just get the squelch working again, I'll be happy. Thanks for any help! Oh, and if anyone can tell me where I can find one or two UPD2816 PLL chips, I'd really appreciate that too!
