I picked up a clean 1976 palomar 500 SWR / watt meter.
It has three pots on rear. 10, 100 and 1000.
Anyone know procedure on how you calibrate these settings?

yes it does widrat.
I would like to see if I could get a PDF copy of manual. I think I got it dialed in.
I took readings off my rat shack meter and wrote them down. Then hooked up the Palomar meter and and only had minor adjustments on all pots.
I will still take any info I can get on this meter! Matches my Palomar 300-A perfectly!

I used to just hook my two meters inline and ck them that way, Idon'tknow about using the rat shack meter as my test unit. How accurate is it? If it's like the rat shack meter I bought eons ago it's not.

it is one of those 20/200/2000 watt/SWR meter.
has AVG/PEP switch on it.
I don't know how accurate it is.
I took AVG settings with amp "on" and had a deadkey of 100 watts and went from there.
I like the 2 meters inline idea though.

Really it doesn't matter as long as it's close. The part that is important is the SWR. It needs to be fairly accurate. It would be a bad thing if the swr meter read lower than it should. I usually run a meter between the radio and ampand then the amp and antenna. I have that new Autek WM1 meter that gives continuous SWR readings, thats goingto be nice, no calibrating, just monitor the meter, and talk!
