I just bought a Cobra 2000 gtl. It's made in Taiwan. People tell me the ones made later in the Phillipines are better made. Is this true?

that is debatable. the ones from the phillipines are newer, as they moved the production to there in the mid to late eighties. i personally own a taiwan 2000gtl and i see no differences other than having to replace parts a little sooner because the radio is older.
