If on a channel that has activity do you see S meter movement? I ask since I had what I thought was a problem with a brand new radio. The receive cut out now and then. Turns out my trusty external speaker had an intermittant so touching up the connections inside it with an iron solved it. The same could happen with internal speaker connections also. Past that take some time to carefully touch up or inspect all solder joints in the radio. Yeah can you spell time consuming?
