What do these terms mean?
Is this something to do with adding CB channels to 10 meter radio? I did a search first for these definitions but only found modifications procedures which I do not understand.
Anyone have experience with RadioActive's Wackpacked and SuperReceive as compared to Copper's expand, align and tune.
Is the output wattage increased? |

expand - means to add addition frequency coverage to a radio.
align - means to make sure that the radio is transmitting on the right frequency (little more complicated but general idea)
Tune - tune up a radio (which can include a alignment) make sure TX power is at full, modulation correct..etc.

Thanks for replies. The align and tune seems like functions that the factory should perform. Seems crazy to take a new product and spend money on it just to get it to perform better. When I buy a new vehicle I don't have to spend money on it just to get me home.If problems arise then the warranty covers it.
Does any factory radio not short change a consumer like this need for align and tune seems to be doing? |

If you buy a new vehicle and want a high performance computer with altered settings installed and the adjustments changed then Yes you would need to spend money on a new car.
On our 1996 Impala we drove to Ed Wrights in OK City to have the computer re-programed to perform at 100% with the mods we had done to it and had it put on a dyno to see the actual difference before and after the change and was highly impressed with the added performance.
Could we have driven it without doing this Yes, would we have had to do this No. The choice was ours to make.
Expanding a radio is like adding High Performance parts to a car and when you are done you want your car to perform at 100% with the mods.
You can always do the conversion yourself and leave everytrhing else alone and pay nothing extra but then you will never know if your radio is actually operating at 100% unless you have the equipment and knowledge to check it and adjust the settings your self if needed for use with amplifiers or for maximum performance.
If your radio is 100% STOCK as it comes from the factory and that is what you want then there is no need to do anything or pay for anything extra.
