what is the low and high wattage on this radio,and does it have a good side band

I have a 959 that I just bought which is the same as the 949 but with freq counter, On low its does 2 watts and on high it does about 6. The sideband is decent, mine needs to be aligned, its about 1 kc high on LSB, The receive has alot to be desired, high noise floor. Im trying to find a tech to send it to for a alignment and some receive improvements so I wont feel like I wasted my money. |

I have a 959 that has been peaked and tuned. Using rf variable Low dead key is 2 watts high dead key is 9 watts. Swings to around 20 watts or so with the 1969 final. SSB is not the greatest. Sounds tinny and not the best recieve. Unlocking the clarifier is a must! Awsome AM radio! |

I had two Galaxy 949's that I bought from Copper. Had them both peeked n tuned. Both of mine did real good on receive. This was a few years ago when skip was rolling good. Result, I talked all over the country with them. And as always, I heard more than I could get back to. Wattage was 6 watts on am. And as ususal for me, No amps at all! Best part about those radios I liked was the large meter.
I sold them both as people wanted to buy them.
