Been offered a very good price for my Boomer Deluxe 500 that has seen a lot it appears. Thinking of selling it and getting the KLV-550 Base maybe. My Boomer has built in 35 amp power supply. How many amps is the KLV-550 Bases built in power supply??? Is the KLV-550 set up for Side Band as well??? Does the KLV-550 have a Pre-Amp??? Thanks, Tim CEF-634 |

Sinker, just checked rm italy site and the power supply output is rated at 13.5 volt-3 amp dc max.the pic in this link will answer the 2nd and 3rd question; kl550 Think that is what you were looking for. tech291 CEF#291 KC8ZPJ |

not sure that the boomer 500 really supplies anywhere near 35 amps-especially with amplifier keyed, but it IS considerably more then the klv |

BOTH the kl550 & boomer 500 have built in power supplies, to provide power to other electronics equipment through external jacks. the kl550 will provide up to 3 amps at 13.5 volts, barely enough to power a stock cb. the boomer will (supposedly) provide up to 35 amps at 13.8 volts. it's been a LONG LONG time, but i seem to remember the boomer having trouble powering a 150 watt radio, so i fgure it's probably closer to 20-25 amps, still much bigger then the kl550's. |

Sinker, You ought to get one like in my pics, doesn't have a preamp, it does have a SSB switch. Doesn't have power outs either, but it'll stimulate that coax. Wildrat |

BTW thanks guys. Think I will keep the Boomer Deluxe 500 then as I used it to run my Galaxy DX99V, Aries 460 Digital SWR/Power Meter, Memo Box & PD Freq Counter and never had a problem, not even with the amp on high and keyed up, always supplied plenty of power. I looks rough but works & the works part is the important part so it stays. |

the AMPLIFIER portion of the dave base is relatively small, it's the POWER SUPPLY part of it that gives it its size(no external PS, but MORE then 12 volts for its amp)-& tremendous output |
