My Magnum 357 DX has a hum when in tx on ssb. Apparently it is not there on am, and reports say it sounds like a 50hz noise. I did have it hooked to a 40a power supply in the house and thought that maybe our 240v mains might be involved with it being a US radio. It now resides in my car but the hum is still there. The L.E.D bar just goes into hyper drive and sits at full output. It stays at full with the backlight flashing until i key off the mic. The hum can be heard thru the t.v inside the house. Can it be rectified or have i bought a dud?

UPDATE.....
Started playing up on am. Rarely use am so no real problem for me. Had my Mrs do a on air report for me and she said it sounded like rubbish. Finally got it to clear up with mic gain at 12 o'clock but had to wind output power back to 8-9 o'clock. Defeats the purpose of having 150 watts on tap. Can anyone give me some idea what is wrong with it?
