Does anyone else own one of these frequency counters. I just bought and mine and I can't seem to get it to work.
When I turn it on, it just scans across frequencies from 5 mhz and up and won't stop scanning. When I connect a length of wire and plug into the RCA socket it does the same scanning around 24 mhz to 28 mhz, but won't stop on any one, even when I hold the end of the wire near the back of the radio that is transmitting.
My Texas Ranger TR696FD1 has a 6 plug frequency counter jack on the back and when I plug it into there, the counter doesn't even turn on right it should. I think this jack musn't be live.
Any suggestions on how to use it with the wire into the RCA jack? Anyone else's keep scanning through frequencies like this and not stopping?

Bert,
done some checking on that counter(freq display)and the rca jack is rated to 50mhz/.1 to 1 volt max signel level.you may need a preamp to detect signals with it.CB Tricks has the fc jack wireing schematic for that radio so you can check to see if it is still intact.

Hey Tech291, thanks for the help.
I might return the counter for a better quality item that would suit my needs better. It sounds like this one is mainly for use with a radio that has an operative frequency jack. I actually bought it more for a cheap bench counter.
