how would one of these sound in a side band radio?...ive seen them in 29's and 25's and other am only radios, but never a side band radio.
i found old plans for them and i like them for the variable dead key feature and people in my area are always asking for variable DK. i dont care if it dosent add swind and modulation although i seem to remember it working rather well.

i have a grant xl floating around with the square, white super talk thingie in it...it doesn't swing as much as the 'modded' XL i use in my mobile, but i don't think it is in any way detrimental to the performance of the radio, either. it works just fine. as for what's in 'em-not a clue, couldn't get through the epoxy or whatever they encase them in.

as for variable power output, remove the VR for AM power, & run wires to maybe the squelch control knob, or add a pot to the side of the radio....
