Can anyone shed some light on the Sommerkamp TS-2000DX? A friend has one that is having problems on the transmit. It appears identical to my RCI-2950. When I Googled it it shows up in RCI repair manuals. But when I wrote RCI asking about the radio and they informed me it is not one of theirs and could offer me no further assistance. ??????????????? Well, it is clearly one of theirs or a copyright infringment.

Before I send it out to my tech I wanted to know if anyone had heard of it, does it have a history, and is it indeed a 2950 that RCI may have produced/subcontracted for another company? The radio appears to be 10-15 years old.

Thanks a million and Happy New Year everyone!

it is indeed a 2950 clone, 1st available in the late '80's, with no known relationship to siltronix/yaesu/sommerkamp. my thoughts of it aside, the one i bought from * & *, & used for about 2 weeks, is still alive & kicking in florida today.

A clone? I wonder who made it? I guess we will have to see what it costs to get it functional again. Thank you Pat Zero Zero.

Take a good look inside at the main pc board then
when you have a board number then try a google with that number it may be a clone if so it
can be RCI made a board that was sold to some other outfit too kind of like UNIDEN boards they
show up in cobras radioshacks and so on .
