I have a Palomar 300-A and was checking tubes. All of them ok well into the green on my tester.
Now I have 3 relays behind meter on amp.
Should these relays be blasted out with contact cleaner for basic maintenance once in a while to keep them tip-top shape? |

i wood'nt say blasted, maybe gently aired out??
those relays are not just found anywere anymore??
if you do find them a 100$s for the set is not uncommon?? i think rf parts mite still have some??
had 3 of those amps, and sold because of the hardness of getting short tubes and the relays!! they are a good amp, but!!! enjoy..

Yeah Hobo and I am debating to get rid of it because of the difficulty for short tubes, parts and buy like a KLV or something modern.
There is nothing wrong with it and works perfect but don't want to be stuck without an amp if it ever fails. It will do an honest 500 + watts but I run it on low 99% of time. |

It will run fine on 6LB6 tubes and they can be had for less than $20 each and are short enough to fit. There are a lot of junkers out there so if you keep your eye out for them, I'll bet you can find one cheap before yours breaks. I see the RF deck all the time on Ebay without the transformer and usually with tubes are included and sometimes it is the version that you have.
Unless you are real partial to the pre-amp you can always pull that relay and install a jumper if one of the others fails. Just a couple of options you might consider. |

You can put in spacers and longer screws to lower the circuit board for the taller tubes. |

Hello does anyone have in info on a Palomar 321 Amp. Like type tubes it uses and how much you can drive into it and what the power out put is in low and high.

Friend of mine has one, it uses 8950 tubes. Not sure one the output though he hasn't used it in a good while. |

For basic operating instructions use the info on CB Tricks for the Skipper 300. For the schematic use Pal 351 which is about the same thing. If it doesn't have the 8950's it will have 6LF6, 6KD6 or something similar. Some people switch them over to tubes that are easier to get and cost a little less. |
