I have a stock 29LTD that can only be heard within 50 yards of my truck but I can peg a friends meter for up to 3/4 of a mile. Any ideas on what I should look for? I have opened the radio and looked for any loose parts but have found none. The mic is a new astatic 636L. Thanks for any help! |

1. swr ok
2.mic gain fully open
3.hold mic close to lips
4. check all basic items first, before getting elbow deep in radio |

You may have a problem with your antenna system. Try a different radio that you know works and see what happens.

When you peg his meter, are you using a different radio? |

If you don't hold that mic you have right by your lip, with lip touching it, you won't be heard. I bought one to go with a new radio and was very disappointed in it. I turned around and bought a Astatic D104m6b. I have been very happy with this mic. It is a power mic. Copper sells it and I don't think you would be disappointed. They even have a special going on the chrome faced one for 29 bucks plus 10 bucks for mic wiring. If you can solder a connector on you can even save yourself the 10 bucks formic wiring.

Found the problem it was a bad antenna and the ground isnt worth a •••• on the 06 Macks. Thanks for the help! |
