Waterboy,

Glad you asked that question. I have just bought a Stryker 440HP model and also have the S6. Both radio's are similar in design; but both have major differences as well. Stryker has: an awesome front panel that is illuminated and can be controlled with a 3-position slide switch. This is REALLY helpful when you're driving at night! Output of the 440HP after tuned is about 65 watts....more then enough to "talk". Styker has a very sensitive recieve that has a variable control for sensitivy..you'd use it as if you had other people close to you and wanted to remove "splatter"...sort of acts as a rf gain/recv preamp control. Stryker has NO switch to tun off swr warning! Why would you want to turn that function off? Also, for the people who are kicked up about roger beeps, Styker has 2 different tones you can select along with turning it off. Styker has no freq counter display...like the S6 has. Why would you need a freq counter for AM mode? So these are just a few of the thing I personally like about the Stryker. Also am hearing they are comming out with a SSB version as well! Again I own both S6 and 440HP; but if I had to get rid of one radio, as of today, I would let the S6 go. Both are excellent in what they do, its just Styker offers a few more what I call "creature features" that make it more user freindly; without suffering from quality and performance as in other model's. Hope that helps! "Mid"
