Does anyone know if I can put a KL40 or KL60 on a unmodded Cobra 19 LTD II. This radio is a pretty good talker but, I would like to pump it up a little. I would prefer not to change anything on the radio. Any ideas?

Is it very hard to turn the D.key down on these ? I am amazed how well this little radio talks right out of the box, No mods & I can make base contacts 20-25 miles away ! I was traveling thru Mo. & my Superstar died , bought the little Cobra just to have something to pass the time & was impressed, I usually never run any radio w/o a tune-up but, this small package has shocked me !

Does anyone know how much of a problem it is to turn the dead key down to 2 (-/+) watts on one of these little Cobras ?

Have you checked the output on it? You really can't get to much out of those radios. Why not see if the radio has enough to drive the amp stock?
