i had a blown final replaced it and the rf driver keys up fine then after you start talking for a few the lights dim and the needle will fall back with backwards modulation unkey key back up talk and it does it again now i have replaced the volt reg, changed some elect caps but still have the problem i checked voltage at jp36 and it starts going crazy anybody have any ideas? audio ic seems fine |

what final was in the radio, and did you replace it with the same type?
if so, then my guess is that the new final or driver or both are thermally intermittant. (i love that term!)
if you have some canned air; turn the can upside down, and be ready to spray a quick spray on the driver and then the final. key the mic and wait for the problem to start. spray the final and driver real quick and see if the problem goes away for a bit. if so, you just need to order new parts, and not from the place where you got the old ones.

Thanks Kid for anwsering i have replaced the final and driver twice with new ones still the same i thought that maybe someone that services the 29's might have had this same problem. as a matter of fact i have 2 cobra 29 ltd's that is doing the same thing its not the final or driver they have been replaced and the voltage regulator + the transmit switching transistor too? |

im trying to find out what the part number on the original driver and final were, and if you were able to find those exact parts, or an equivilent, and where you purchased the parts from.
have these radios had the 1969 final mod done to them?
