My magnum 257 is having an intermittent problem.The modulation gets extremely low to the point where people can barley hear me even at close range.
I checked the power on AM and the variable is working but no forward swing.Mic is fine I tried 3 different ones and mic gain is wide open.
Any suggestions?

Since the mic gain is "wide open" you are most likely overdriving it. Try the mic gain at about 1/4. Also try setting the carrier level to 1/4 of it's rated PEP. |

Sounds to me like a final went bad. Go to a tech and chack it out. I bet you will be replacing a final. good luck |

Power level looks good 1-8 key.
I tried adjusting mic gain up and down plus the internal control.No differnce. |
