Hello I am wanting to purchase a better meter than what I have (RS...junk)and found this meter on the internet..My understanding is it can only be purchased factory direct (not 100% shure on this), but I was wondering if anyone on this forum had/used one...It sells for $149.00 and has some nice features, but is it good or hype/junk??? thanks for any input

I have one and I like mine. You say factory direct to order. It's an older ham operator that has been doing this for awhile. He lives about 50 miles to the north east of me, he used to live here where I am but moved out to the sticks which is not very sticky anymore. All his products are good. I bought one of his analysers also, which works great.
The only thing about the WM1 I don't care for is the wall wart. It will pull out of the meter easily, it also has reverse polarity of normal wall warts. I cut the plug off and soldered the wires to the board. If you do this make sure you have the polarity correct if you do this.
I also like the fact that the SWR reading is always there, no need to calibrate or anything just key up and it's there.
The meter is also suppose to be nearly or is as accurate as a Bird, but I don't know this for sure as I don't have a Bird meter.

I own this meter. I have a question about it. When in peak mode, I notice the SWR meter reads different than in AVG mode. Which mode should I take as my true SWR. (PS, this is simply keying, no audio).

Also, in AVG mode, I see backswing using a 667, but not in peak. Weird.

i have another new one that seems to do the same as you describe, james. my 2 older ones didn't do that. one is toast, the other, at 10 years old has been acting up, so i got a 3rd one. SWR does not concur with the 2 older meters, the sx100, the palstar or my mfj259. though i like the reomote on the wm1, i am back on the diamond sx100. thought the 'quality control' issue was just on mine....maybe not?

Did you also have the backswing problem?
