Hello All...I have been reading in the archives and did some search's w/o an answer to my question that keeps buzzing around inside my head..I was wondering what the degree of degradation of a signal was coming off the centerline of a beam antenna...I realize it is differen't with differen't beams, but for information I was considering the M103 or M104.. I drive a local big truck and go 60 and 80 miles outside of town in N/NW direction some of the year and about 50 miles in a NW direction the rest of the year, about 25 degree angle between the two with my house being the pivot point...I am trying to get set up so I can have communication with my house during the day...it doesn't have to be the full distance, but most would be nice..My 5yo thinks he big stuff talking to daddy on the CB...anyway was wondering if I could squeak by for now w/o a rotor...I am currently running a Star Duster not so high up...The height needs to go up no matter what antenna I go/stay with...Thanks for any input...sorry for rambling on so much  |

Hello if you set this up piont the M103 or M104
right at N/NW direction then move it about 3Deg
to NW and run it vertical. Also i am a big fan of SSB 60 and 80 miles is a pice of cake on SSB.
I'd run about 150 to 200 watts in your Truck. Be
sure to run the longest antenna you can on the Truck. Put the Star Duster on you know whos web
site and pick up a Maco 5/8 vertical you'll love
