I asked an extremly important question here titled "GPK or not?". It was regarding a special installation problem and it was a long and detailed question that is VERY important for me to know before I install my Imax 2000. It's not here??? Please don't tell me I have to type the whole thing all over again. Where did it go???

Silver on this forum it is very easy to get confused if something interrupts you during typing a post. When you click on Post Message button you are actually placing the text in the Preview mode and at the bottom of that screen is the tab to click on that actually posts the text to the forum for consideration by a moderator. When you click on this tab (Post this Message) I think you get a new screen again that looks like a preview screen. If you come back later you have to try and figure out where you are or where you left off.

I am sure I have done that many times and on returning I might have even sent the same text again not remembering where I was. I am sure too, that I have just Back click out of there leaving my new post to the wind so-to-speak, thinking I had already posted it, and then wonder what happended to it. All forums are weak in some area or the other. This one does not allow you to correct your mistakes and the mistake you made may also be another.

Just my opinion.

I get the drift of your question and I have tested the Imax some and the A99 quite a bit. Here is a little of what I find.

Both antennas appear to be very broad banded when the tuning rings are in the middle of the coil. If you add a GPK to the A99, the bandwidth is reduced by about 50% and thus I consider that to be an improvement in actual gain. However I have never been able to tell this by human senses or by device, so I don't think it really matters.

To me it is about the same as having two similar antennas where one shows 2:1 swr and the other shows 1:1 swr. There is some difference, but it is real hard to tell. Now I know some CB good buddies will tell you different so you just have to decide what you want to believe.

You can check it out yourself, you don't have to take my word for anything. I just go by what I know and I feel and I ignore all the CB BS.

The GPK may also, to some degree, help eliminate some of the Common Mode currents you are likely to have on the feed lines of these two feedline radiating antennas. That is just the way they are built. If you don't believe that then all you have to do is get you a cheap Field meter that works and put it on your station or near the feed line of this antenna, you will see the meter react dramatically in most cases when compared to other type Ground Plane antennas which often do not react at all.

Thanks Lon and Marc....I'll bet that's what I did...I probably just went to preview and then hit the back button...my apologies. I will retype and repost my question at my earliest convenience. The answers from you guys is important to me before I put up my Imax. I'm no spring chicken but it will be my first antenna. I'm just now getting into the CB hobby and have a very real concern about the GPK and TVI with my particular installation. Again...I apologize for my "old timers" mistake.

Silverfox,

You should have NO problems with TVI using a GPK kit with the IMAX as long as ALL of your equipment including your antenna, mast pipe and tower are ALL properly grounded to a Single Point Ground.

Hope this helps,

Thanks again, Lon...I reposted my question and I hope you see it. My friend has a theory that the GPK, in my case, may be couterproductive. I just posted it.
