Yup...the blast from the past! HAHA!
I picked up a few goodies when a friend and I dismantled a 60ft tower and brought it home. The guy we got the tower from threw me a few old goodies...one being a NOW restored by me Lafayette 525. Clean little unit that works great!
A friend and fellow collector also with his share of Lafayette radios decided to pick up a set of Privi-com units from the auction store and gave me one. We're only about a mile apart and were looking forward to trying them. Well , while my 525 has the PC plug on it..it seems its NOT exactly the same? My unit is a privi-com IV Sooooooo I suppose I need an older version? ANY old timers with experience here? Was really looking forward to trying out the "way we were :-)" but now am a little stumped with NO info available that I can find on the web.

Any info?
Thanks for ANYTHING! :-)

Hank,
sams photofacts cb series covered the 525 and all the priva-coms.not sure what volumes you will need, cant find my index.the online auction is the best source for them these days.

TECH NOTE just found my index.looks like there are 6 different 525's(a through f).which one do you have?you will need also the model and/or catalog # of the priva-com to look up the right manual.

Well...if I look at the tag I'd swear it says 525P but given the info you provided it must be an "F"?
Rear of rig has PRIVA-COM / TVI / ANT LOADING /
one port says "EXT. Sp" and the other says "EX" below it...whatever that is?
Also has PA..standard Uniden type power plug and Ant. Jack...that is ALL :-)

Thanks for the input...friend just stopped by and dropped off a Priva-com III and looks the same in all respects except no aux pigtail with the PC plug.

Thanks again..I'll get this working sooner or later!

WAIT! NON-TECH NOTE!:
I'm playing with this as we speak...errr...as I type and feel like an idiot! I just realized I've been trying to plug my Priva-com into a sort of Priva-com "jumper jack" thats already PLUGGED into the radio! I just slipped it out and plugged in the PC!...now to see if it works!

ANY further info would be great!(like which SHOULD I be using!?) Sorry for the noobie goof! How was I to know?! :-)

Hank, Cool find! Layfayette is my favorite old school radios! I have my dads 'yette' very first radio which I restored painted. I also restored like new a Layfayette Tesat 23 channel base. I painted it with that textured paint and it looks awesome! Transmit is good too but the recieve is about like any old radio, not bad but noisy.73

Thanks for all comebacks on this. As noted above I screwed up but hey..live and learn. Just want to see it work via another PC transmitter! Should happen by next week. Still going through ANYTHING I can find that describes its function....but I'll find out by trial and ERROR I'm sure!
ANYWAY...posted some pics of the semi-finished unit in my PICS section.

Thanks again!
