Frist is it a RV or a Trailer. and do you plan to
use it on the road or when just parked. If your
plan is to use the radio when camped i'd put a
1/2 wave on 15 mast and make a mount off the rear
or side of camper .But if your looking to chat on
the road find out from your RV dealer how hard
it be to drop a inside roof pannel to get to the steel under the rubber.if you can then i run something along the line of a 3/8 stud mount
but remeber don't go to tall of a antenna .
Also you can look into Marine antennas no ground needed here.

Yeah do a search for no ground antennas. They use the coax as a counterpoise and work well. I believe Wilson has one and I know radio shack may still have one.73

Do a search on Gordon West, WB6NOA. He has written several books about mobile installations. If I am remembering correctly one of his books may be directed toward RV'ing and radio. He is about the best there is dealing with such matters. His material is always well written, very understandable and practical. Look him up.
