Sometimes when I turn it on it acts funny. It powers on but i get no recieve unless real close and the same for transmit. Its like it goes off freq. Now if I switch it off and on real fast a few times it will come on and work great as normal. I have tried different mics and antennas. My 148nwst did the same thing for a short time and then stopped. Cold solder joint maybe? Anyone else own a newer 148 GTL with similar issue?

yup, most likely that famous ole cold solder joint syndrome. where though... try leaving the covers unscrewed, next time it happens, very carefully remove the covers & try pushing on the board with a pencil, or wooden dowel & see if things 'POP' back to normal. then, hit all the joints in that area with a hot solder gun & see if you find the bad spot.
