Well a friend of mine asked me if I could purchase a new outdoor condensing unit for him. I said sure and asked him who was going to solder it in and charge the system. He said he was, well after a couple of questions we decided that I should do it with a lot of physical help from him because of my back. He knows he owes me big time as an ac company would have charged him around 1,800 bucks to do what I did. It cost him less than half. So he is going to make me a new bracket for my jeeps tire carrier out of stainless, now I'll get my receive back. I made one out of steel but when it starts rusting my ears go away. This should cure that problem once and for all. I'll put a picture up after I get it. |

i soldered the 'C' channel steel to my spare tire mount on my blazer, & soldered a flat plate to the top, & put a ball mount there. used that setup for over 10 years on 2 different blazers & never had a problem. |

I already had made a mount that bolts to my spare tire carrier, he is going to replicate it in stainless. I always have problems down here when it's not stainless or aluminum. Aluminum is not much better than steel here, and that's why I am using SS. I think I am going to put a ball mount on the side of the Jeep where the stock AM/FM antenna is and use a switch for the two different antennas. |

Well I got the Stainless pole from the fella for the Jeep. I temp installed and put the Monkey on, ck'd SWR, OK, The non corroded surface of the stainless made a big difference with my receive. I can hear the fellas good now and the receive is a lot cleaner. I will finish up tomorrow. |

I have the SS pole and Monkey made installed on the jeep now. I also replaced the coax between the box and the antenna with some RG213 that I had. I also ran a 4ga. ground from the SS pole to the frame of the Jeep. Things are really working better. I will put the SWR meter on it tomorrow. I think I will put my TS modulator back in the Jeep also. |
