I've posted similiar to this somewhere else. But I've got a question or two about this.

Where can you buy the segments for the frequency counters that are built into radios? I want blue, not red. I know of a few places to get the channel displays, but I need the freq counter displays.

I still haven't figured out about the lens yet. I've been using clear plastic like the stuff they use to make parts bin trays. I contact RF Limited about trying to purchase some from them. They gave me a company to purchase from, but you gotta have a Tax ID number & business license for electronic repair. While this isn't totally out of the question, I kinda hate to go through all that just to be able to buy from them once and awhile.

Anybody know where you can pick these up for a fair deal? For the ones curious...I'm converting a 66 Galaxy over to blue for a friend.

Thanks

If they are going in a mobile and you will be driving it at night then I would stick with red or green, MUCH easier on the eyes. My blue '257 would give me headaches with it in the corner of my vision during long night drives. We aren't that good at that end of the color spectrum at night, it's like being "force fed" blue.

This being said, the blue LED craze has oficially driven me nuts!

Chad, buddy, pal, friend. Come on now.

I put a blue channel light in a 48T for a buddy on mine. It wasn't bright enough, so he wanted another one. So I put two in it. I had to drill holes in the bottom of the meter and insert the LED's. I ended up with the radio and put them on a switch. I did so, because yes, at nighttime they are rough on your eyes.

BUT the S9 has a dimmer switch. Plus I read somewhere how to dim the display and counter read-outs on other radios. I'll probably aquire this 66 anyway and it won't see the inside of my truck.

I wonder if Magnum would consider giving Pat a job or putting him in a commerical for RF Limited?

i'd do almost anything for a free 175 watt S9...almost

i do have mixed feelings about the blue readouts. in a well-lit situation, they are cool. in the dark....i feel chads pain.

those blue headlights make me wanna take a sledgehammer to 'em

I popped one of my amps in my PA not too long ago and it's still on the bench. I rented one this weekend with blue signal present LED's. they were so darn bright and annoying in a dark venue that I taped them over so I could see the LEDS on the other amps and LIMITERS=(the ones that count) :-) The blue ones were casting a shadow on the bar floor and there were 6 other amps in the rack to be watching not including processing. That designer should be shot, that bright of an annoying color should be considered a "back it down hotrod" light.

Ohhhhh booooyyyyeeee.

I wish they could make the channel LED's change color like the ones for the meters.

I'd build another Galaxy just to do that do. Then I'd make my noise toy of Pe(e)-Wee Herman going "ha-ha...I know you are but what am I" or "that's my name don't wear it out!".

HAHAHA...that would be cool. Get a faceplate made for that had Pe(e)-Wee's Playhouse on it.

Oh man, I just realized that I need to stop it with the PW Herman thing...
