Another POS I've acquired today.
This radio has no audio output with either the internal speaker or external. BUT the PA function does work and you can hear yourself by checking the audio with headphones through my meter setup.
Now this is kinda weird. You can put the external speaker into the PA jack and you can hear everybody like normal. Of course when you key up you aren't heard cause you're on PA.
Now you can do the resistor trick for talkback and hear again. OR you can ground the pin for the external that is closest to the chassis and you can hear again. Of course you have talkback again and it's very loud and causes feedback. I've checked and even replaced the caps in that area for the ground of the speaker. Still no audio out?

Have you tried another mic? Maybe the rx wire in the mic has become unsoldered? |

try replacing or bypassing the external speaker jack.get out the magnifying glass and bright light and check the board for cracks around the jack area.do the hoki-poki(believe that was either yours or Matt's term)with the interconnect wires on the board.check the pa/cb switch.just a few things to check.

You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around...
Oh..sorry. Man, you know sometimes you try so hard that you forget the simple things. I'll try that and see what's up.
I did notice that with the volume turned all the way up, I could hear a funny 'grinding' sound coming from the audio chip. So that is why I replaced that first. However, a brand new one did the same thing. Now with the volume knob at a normal position you don't hear that.
But I'll go out there and try the switch and try bypassing or replacing the jack.
