Can anyone tell me which is the better of these radios. I have heard that the old type is best, just wanted to get a Techs opinion since you work with these rigs.
Thanks for your help :

Aircop12,

Read the REVIEWS on BOTH the Old and Newer Magnum 257 Radios HERE in the Copper Forum and you decide.

Now when the ERF2030 powered Magnum 257 comes out there may be a difference but as of now I have found no major difference in overall performance between the 2 EXCEPT the Channel Modification / Frequency Conversion which is easier in the Newer Magnum 257.

Since I did the Review on the newer 257 I have had the chance to get an older version and BOTH are GREAT Little Radio's.

In the newer model MAGNUM seems to have corrected/addressed the minor problem's that were mentioned in the Older 257 Review.

With the exception of switching the Up/Dn Buttons on the Mic which I do not use anyway and adding a 6 digt display.

Newer 257 REVIEW CLICK HERE

Hope this help's,

The new one also has the speech processor which I believe the old one does not. The SP makes a BIG difference.

I also modded my up/dn buttons to be "correct" I should post the mod eh?
