I used to always use PDL II's because I found that many times when a DX station was dropping in and out I could switch Polarity and frequently get them back. Got many cool QSL's that way (for sending reception report lol), and wore out many switch boxes too. Do you think it would be easy to mount lets say 2 Maco 3 elm. beams on my Mast one Horz. and the other Vert. and switch between them? I really like the edge mentioned above when doing DX? Another reason, I liked them was because the square shape did not require a big turning radius, that is going to be a problem a t this location because of close by trees, can't use anything to long. I see a PDL II clone, but they want much to much for it. I would rather buy 2 of your beams and have money for Coax left over lol.

Yes, you can do it.
Your old "square shape" had nothing to do with the turning radius. The factor that effects that is boom length. |

Buy a M00-05175 Maco M-103C-HV 3 here on copper, http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?catalogSTORE:CKIE:prodM00-05175+ and you will have two maco 103s in one antenna and a little cheaper and less work than trying to put two 103s together yourself.

Not quite true - generally it is the boom that effects the turning radius only because in most cases it is the longest dimension, but in certain cases, such as a short boom 2 element 40m yagi it could in fact be the element length that effects the turning radius. |

Thank's guys will take a better look, and rldrake I know that-duh (smile), I did say "can't use anything long.." lol The PDL II would have been great here, as I have trees close by in two directions, and houses on either side. I need to pop through the opening on the way up. So I can't go with anything much longer than a 3 elm., may be able to get a 4 elm through, but would have to take a very good look first, after I get past the trees I am ok at 36 or so feet. It's just getting past the mess... |

tech 237 i was talking about the maco max beams.3 elm flat and 3 elm vertical.that would do what he wanted to do would'nt it??.AND 738 I HAVE A SET OF SUPERHAWKS SOMEWHAT LIKE THE PD11 but inproved.i'll e-mail you the info. 505 |

Thank's again guys missed the details on the Maco's. One or the other will do the job, a little bigger than I like for my location, but I can swing it. Just got to decide on the Comet, or the other crossed 3 elm. (forget model #) Thank's again all, please let the post die unless you got some comments about one, or both models.. |
