And I say an hour only if I'm lucky. I accidently messed with one of the VCO pots in the radio and now, after I use it for an hour or so, the receive drops and all I hear is a high pitch whine and a sweeping filter effect.
When I try to transmit, it stays at 22.58 MHz no matter what channel I go to. Anyone have any ideas? |

Yeah, get the alignment info for it and do an alignment on it.
I was thinking you had the same issue I had with a 2970DX. You could transmit one minute and then all of a sudden it would just stop. It would key, but nothing happened. If you removed the top cover and looked over to the left side of the radio with it facing you, there is a transistor mounted to the chassis. The solder joint was broken, but it was real hard to see it. That cured that problem.
I'm not sure about yours other than aligning the radio, that should hopefully cure that problem.

yeah, it's weird because I started messing with it a little more tryin to figure out what was wrong, and I came to find that as I played with the RF gain it actually changed my transmit freq. |

That's weird that it's doing that. Must be like Momma says...it's the devil.
You really need to get it hooked up and check out the alignment...that'll probably fix your issues. Hopefully. |

Nahh I've taken care of that already, it works just fine...got it to scream and swing, only after an hour it dies. All I hear is hissing and nothin else. I think I may have messed something up by letting too much voltage get to it. I dunno. |
