does anyone know how long the autek wm-1 meter-cord that goes between the meter and its coax coupler adapter is?I dont remember.Is it 4 ft? |

Yes, it is 4 feet. If you want to extend it, it is possible. Basically, it is a total of 3 conductors on that remote cable (2 insulated cables with a shield around it). Essentially, you can use pro audio mic cable as an extension. There are 2 ways you can extend it.
1. Cut the remote cable in the center (basically 2 feet away from the unit). Then a add a female XLR plug on one end, and a male XLR on the other. Now you can simply plug them in for only four feet, or insert any length of pro mic cable you want. So, if you want say 20 feet, simply get a 20 foot mic cable and click it inbetween the two ends you just soldered on. Be sure to observe that you solder the proper cables to the proper pin numbers.
2. Or simply cut the cable again at the halfway point, and get say a 20' shielded pro audio mic cable, cut the XLR ends off the pro cable, and twist the proper wires together, solder them too, and put black tape around it.
Do keep in mind that even with only 4 feet of remote cable, I would add at least 1 ferrite choke on each end of the cable just to be safe. I was getting weird readings on my other remote meter until I added the chokes. Thanks. |
