A friend of mine and I were discussing the groundplane kit they sell for the Wilson 1000. Just wondering if it would work on a pole? The Wilson 1000 performs so good on a car--do you think it'd make a good base antenna? (Of course, you could buy an antron for the same cost or less, just conversation).

Mikfromms, I don't think it would make a good base antenna. It will kind of work but the problems you have matching it to the radio are horrible. Mobile antennas need big counterpoise. HEY! What am I doing? You already know this! I believe that the ground plane kits made for mobile antennas are just made to remove your hard earned cash from your wallet. Just my 2 pesos
