So I just found one of these radios. I did some research on it. Seems to be a great radio from all that I read about it.
Now I know the 3500 is the 100 watt model. But a few folks say the 3300 came as 100 watt model as well. The reason I ask is, the radio I am getting has a heat sink on it. Did the 30 watt model have that?
And does anyone have, or know where I can get a copy of the owners manual?
I am really looking forward to DXing with this radio, and I hope it lives up to the hype. BTW - it has the orignal mic with it, and looks to be in mint condition as well.
It should look real nice next to the 2510! |

Great radio!
A big misnomer on these radios is that the 3300 is the 30 watt version, and the 3500 is 100 watt. THIS IS WRONG
Actually the 3500 is nothing more than an updated 3300, both of which had a 100 watt and 30 watt version.
If memory serves, the 30 watt had a pretty normal heat sink on the back (normal for an export I mean) and the 100 watt had a noticeably longer heat sink, I may be wrong tho...
Owners manual, I do not have, however there is TONS of info on these radios on the net. So much in fact, there really isn't a need for a manual. But if you want one i have seen them for sale on the auction sites.

Well the radio arrived yesterday. It is great shape, and the AM mode works real nice. But SSB receive is bad. It sounds like everyone is off freq and under water. I check the freq with my inline counter. The radio is transmitting on freq in AM and SSB mode. This is the 3300 with the 8 pin mic, not the 4 pin mic. It is sending good power as well. It's just the RX on SSB that stinks! Any ideas??? |
