Hello ALL,
Are all 5 tubes (heaters) in the KLV1000 amp supposed to glow when the amp is in standby mode?

Thanks

yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes!! let see, that is 5 s's.. one for each tube!! lol.. thats your heaters and they keep the tubes warm and up to tempreture for operation!! give the amp about 20 minutes warm up after you turn it on and after you tune up its ready to do its thing?? enjoy.

hmmmmmmm, never read a post yet from any copper forum member on the driver stage going bad who has owned one.

And our's has been 100% Problem Free with over 2 years of use except for one problem that was 100% MY FAULT when I forgot to turn the lincoln power down.

And I have never heard anything from the Copper Tech about any problem's with the Driver stage since since it is also a EL-519.

If any amp is blowing the fuses then there is a problem that need's to be addressed as to WHY the amp is blowing fuses such as Over Driving or Under Driving them or high SWR or bad jumper's/coax/antenna or a combination of all of the above.

If a person follow's the easy to understand instruction's in the Owner's Manual they should have NO PROBLEM's.

Just my own 1st hand personal experience.

I had one blow a fuse and the first tube. As Lon said though it was not the equipments fault. I was not aware that my antenna took a lightening hit, keyed up with the amp on not checking my SWR and poof. New Tube, New Fuse all is good and the amp still kicks butt. I love being able to adjust the preamp stage - my favorite feature of this amp.

Roger, operator errors cause most of the
problems with amps. Driving them with to
much wattage, not tuning correctly, not
following manual directions, ect.

Roger, i've burned a couple of amps up myself
years ago. Just be careful and follow
recommended owners manual care and they
usually last a long-time. You run a 2985dx
right?
Be very careful running a 2-4 watt input
amp with a radio that has a varible rf
power control that's capable of more wattage
than the amp will take. Mistakes happen.
I've done it myself and others in my area
have done it.
Ok, you have a great day! And good luck with
whatever you decide to get!

I just wanted to get everyones input. you cant beleve every thing you hear all the time. I knew copper members use them and hear they like them too. I am trying tio save up for one for fall. I keep getting set back though, What I saved so farr is now needed to fly to Texas to see my son.

I just go round and round as to which amp to purchase. I did have my mind made up to buy a KLV400 base from copper this spring and had the funds but they were out of stock at the time for quite a while so the money flew the coupe till they got them in again.

Found the problem.... one female receptacle in tube holder was spread too wide. Closed it up and the tube came to life. I am seeing some good numbers from these russian tubes. Thanks for the help.

Since I repaired the tube socket, I am now seeing 1400watts peak out of my KLV1000 on high setting with a Viking and B&W Low Pass filters on the output side of amp. These Russian tubes are nothing but the truth. I am happy

KLV 1000P AMP
My amp which i just got a few Days Ago is Great on 10 meter Band full 1400 output..., But as i go to 11 meter the output is at best 400 watts at Channel 38 on Channel 1 i get about 150 watts. Is this a internal adjustment ,As i got it from a ham radio swapmeet.. it seems to be setup for 10 meter not 11 meter .. I did find the mods (remove IC2 ) I did and no change.
Is there an adjustment on the inside that will allow me to tune it Down to 11 meter....
thx

Halfcent048, If your antenna is tuned for 10 meter then your amp is going to perform most effecient on the 10 meter band. I would retune the antenna for 1.1 swr at the 11 meter freq you intend to use the most and then see what you get. good luck

Halfcent048, Hammond is way north of me I believe near the big windy city of Chicago. I was born and raised in Indianapolis. Currently I reside 30 miles south of Indy in the small city of Franklin. I miss the metropolis I'm used to. Franklin is like pergutory. Halfway between the city where anything and everything is happening and the sticks where I would prefer to be away from everything and everyone that annoys me! Living close to work allows me to be able to afford the gas that goes in the tank of the big ol Hotwire Mobile so it is not all that bad. At least Franklin has a Walmart!
