I have feedback squealing in my trc 441, have to lower the volume control on the mic to get rid of it, but then loose some stations<receiving> on the channel Any help revpo/doctor |

Revpo, I take it that this is not a talkback squeal but a squeal from the radio itself. First verify that the mic is correctly wired and that the SWR is not to high. High swr will cause this. Poor filtering is the cause of the squeal when it comes to mics. The radio was setup for a stock mic and the power mic is just to much for it. Try this, it should take care of that squeal. Open the mic case and determine which wire is the audio line. Cut the audio wire and insert a 4700ohm 1/4 watt resistor in series with the audio wire. For even more protection you can also connect a .001mf ceramic disc capacitor to either side of the resistor to the bare twisted shield braid of the mic cable. The value of the parts is not critical. Get them small enough to fit in the mic. This fix should cure the squeal caused by a power mic. |
