I have a stock Uniden mic from a old Grant (none XL). The mic has 5 wires// red, black, shield, white, yellow i wish to wire this to a Cobra 148 GTL but some reason i cannot get this mic wired correctly. Could someone please guild me in the correct direction. here is how i think it should be, but does not work correctly.

PIN 1 = White (AUDIO)
PIN 2 = Shield (GRD)
PIN 3 = Black (RX)
PIN 4 = Yellow (SW)
PIN 5 = Red (TX)

Thanks for any help recieved.

Rebel3712,

The STOCK wiring of the Grant 5 wire microphone and the Cobra 148 GTL 5 wire microphone are the same and should be:

PIN #1 ~ AUDIO
PIN #2 ~ SHIELD
PIN #3 ~ RECEIVE
PIN #4 ~ Sw. WIRE
PIN #5 ~ TRANSMIT

You may have a bad mic or a bad cord with a short/break in it, if it is not working.

Hope this help's,

Would you happen to know what each wire is on the stock Uniden mic by color? i do know this is the original cord on this mic as i am the one who purchased the radio new it came on, also this mic works fine on a cobra 29 4 pin.

Rebel3712,

Sorry but that information I do not remember.

Hopefully another Copper Forum Member will be able to help you with that information.
