Whatta ya think fellas? A compression mic with a radio with built in compression. I suppose I can turn off the Top Gun to use the mics compressor. Wondering if I can get a good match.
I have been having so much fun with the mobile I have not even touched the base very much. Gonna change though. By this winter I am determined to have a top notch base setup. I want the very best audio and recieve possible! Plan to be a barefoot setup for the most part.

"Plan to be a barefoot setup for the most part".

GASP!

Kenny if your base is half as good as your mobile you should have NO problems!
I have NO clue how well that mic would work with the S9 but if CEF198's Mic is ANY indication of how well it would sound...oh my!
(See my other post here on AR3500 mic suggestion)
Wait a minute? Thought you had the big bad Connex?
You holdin' out on us 'Wire? Whats up your sleeve?
AHHHHHHH! I know! A "barefoot" 200w S9!
On to you KenWire....I'll be watching you.

Hank

Yeah I do have the Conny. The 148 was having some minor technical problems so its in for a checkup soon. The 4800 is now mobile plus it has a dual clarifier. Much needed while on ssb with such temperature changes in the car. I just love the 4800 and now the car is its home for good. Now I have an excuse to buy another radio.
I guess I said barefoot cause of the neighbors and locals. Probably gonna get an S9 and run it as a base but just between us and the fence post.....the DX500 is gonna be inline. Hey ya never know when you might need backup.
This is a long term project. What I want is like this,Penetrator 10K(HAVE YOU HEARD ROADWARRIOR MAN?), a cool run of 9913 grade coax plus jumpers, DX500V, Magnum S9 and JCD 201. Oh and one of those killer comfortable office swivel chairs, you know like the ones the CEO's sit in! Surrounded by my QSL cards maps lady pictures nic nacs and doo dads!
Oh yeah, in the future I see a DX1600V in the mobile. Hey gotta go and get my powerball tickets! Its up there man!

Sounds like the setup in my Jeep, except for the swivel chair and Copper Mic.
They should have a 30 day try out period on that Mic. for the cost of it. I have heard great and bad comments on the Mic. so as for myself I would be wary of spending the money for a mic. that might end up in my Mic bin.
My base setup works great with the S9 and of course my DM box. I do have the swivel chair in here so I can turn around and get to the computer quick. I am back to using my Aries me3 power mic and Road Noise Extreme 2018 mic, both work great.

Wildrat, I already have the mic! It has proven itself to me with the 4800. If the mic does not go well with the S-9 then looks like the S-9 will go mobile. As for a mobile mic I use the Astatic 636 exclusivly. Hoping the noise cancelor works well with the S-9 as well.
