Anyone looking to go 2 meter SSB DO NOT BUY a hygain VB214fm ! They say it is cut for 144 and even give instructions to "CUT" it but it comes from the factory for 147 and has a VSWR of over 2:1 at 144.200.

Now for FM it will work fine .....

I'm wondering about any store bought beams. I puchased a 3 element yagi from another location and it was supposedly 2 meter only. After putting an SWR meter on it the thing also works for 440 with an SWR of no more than 1.3

Rid0617,
That maybe because 440 or 70cm is close enough to x3 m that it works. For example a 1/4 wave at 2m would be 3/4 at 440. This fact is used in several dual band antenna.

As an aside a 1/4w for 6m will also work as a 3/4 wave at 2m.
