How would you all RATE the RM-ITALY KLV-1000/P vs. the Texas Star mobile equivalent. I am looking for a BASE AMP -- I had purchased the 1600V but cancelled it due to the fact of not being able to [realistically] power it for a Base AMP. Is the KLV 1000/P spec'd at AB-bias or just B? I have heard that the Texas Star 1200 Mobile will run off a 100-amp power supply. Anyone know for sure? The Texas Star spec site does not mention amp-draw on that AMP. The reason I used the KLV-1000/P was due to the 100W driver on my 2995DX. KLV-1000/P has (4)519's vs. (5)519's for the KLV-1000.

73's, --Rich

I have heard only good things from the KLV base amp owners. I guy a town over runs the 1000 and sounds choice. As far as the mobile models I believe Texas Star is way better hands down.
As long as the power supply you have is 100 amps constant you should have no problems with the DX 1200. Possibly could even run the DX1600 with a constant 100 amps. A lot depends on how hard you intend to drive the amp. My DX500 works just fine with 45 amps constant but on SSB I need to turn down the drive input. SSB uses a lot more amps.

Thanks for the info, I think I am going to go with the 667V, with an Astron RS70M.
